Description
Yspertal, the sunny vacation resort with its magnificent natural jewel, the Ysperklamm gorge. Here, hikers experience an impressive interplay between the elements of wood, stone and water! Tips: Tennis and leisure center, year-round indoor swimming pool, local history museum in Altenmarkt (including the life's work of the "Schalenstein researcher" Pastor Hans Wick to admire, mysterious things about the legendary, mystical places in the region), Hoffmann riding stables. Worth seeing: Rorregg Castle (privately owned by the Habsburg - Lorraine family), Wimburg ruins (from the 14th century, widow's seat of Agnes of Hungary), St. Urban's Church in Pisching, St. Magdalena's Church in Altenmarkt with pictures from the school of Kremser Schmidt and Paul Troger, St. Laurentius' Church in Ysper with "carving". All hiking trails from Altenmarkt and Ysper are signposted from both starting points!
- Route description From Ysper, a stretch along the Herzsteinweg – to noteworthy, region-typical farmsteads with their own farm names (here it is customary to know families by their house names) – along the hiking route: Obergrub, Gerechtslehen, Linden, Nussbichl, Überländ, Stein, Weyretzberg, Rapoltsberg, Wegenstein, Hoffeld. Near the transmitter (transmission mast at the Wegenstein house) we reach the highest point of the panorama hike (besides many other great viewpoints). A historical attraction is the Wimburg ruin, just before the Ysperklamm. In the 13th century, it served as a widow’s residence for Queen Agnes; the tower and masonry of the castle are well preserved. At the Forellenhof at the entrance to the Ysperklamm, we reach the end of the hike and can, after a refreshment, explore the Ysperklamm or take the return route to Yspertal.
