Created as a citizen participation project to mark the city's 90th anniversary, the walk, which is accompanied by fruit trees and shrubs not far from the city center, fulfills several aspects. Above all, it is intended to promote encounters and exercise in the cultivated landscape close to the city and to convey interesting ecological knowledge about the varieties themselves and the insect world through the signage. Gift trees for residents' anniversaries created initial relationships with the trees. Shady resting places on a stone wall or under old trees offer the opportunity to experience the changes in the annual cycle from fragrant blossoms in spring to the first ripening of some seemingly exotic fruits. May berries, Indian bananas, heart nuts, seedless plums and the like are there to arouse interest, be eaten and loved.
When the play of colors on the leaves in autumn heralds the approach of winter and the fruit has been eaten or processed for storage, hikers and fruit lovers can think about the time to propagate their favorites with scions and sign up for pruning courses. The hardy varieties also represent an important genetic reserve, which is being expanded and secured in a network with interested parties. The processing and tasting of fruit will also receive attention in the coming years.

- Route description At the ÖBB Wielandsthal stop, after the railway underpass by the information board, you will find the starting point of the route. Guests are welcomed by currant variations near the railway embankment and a row of columnar plums on a public flowerbed maintained within the framework of the Herzogenburg green sponsorship at the information board. Following Josef Haider Street, you encounter along the settlement street an apple berry (Aronia) and two pawpaws. At the end of the street, turn north and reach the "Miniature Orchard" station on the field path with a first rest bench amidst apple and pear trees. Alongside the railway, discover the thinned, natural windbreak hedge with early blooming fruit bushes for bees, butterflies, and walkers. At the railway crossing, head west along the roadside path with sea buckthorn variations and, after turning by the three individual settlement houses, to the "Pear-Cherry in Company" station and the young nut-chestnut-almond avenue. Following this, you reach the cellar lane - a field path with an old high-crowned fruit tree avenue that you pass through heading south. A dry stone arena by the "Old Vine Nursery" and the surrounding old and new damsons invite you to rest. After the rest area, about 200 m straight ahead south, the flowering meadow with pear and rowanberry begins at the fork. On the way east, the station "Peach, Apricot & Co" follows and offers a beautiful distant view of Schneeberg. The further stations lie again in the settlement area, on Blausteiner Street, and exemplify how public flowerbeds with fruit-bearing shrubs like hawthorn, dwarf almond and sour cherries, Nanking cherry, and dwarf rowanberry are maintained and used by citizens. At the railway crossing at the end of the street, the choice opens up: back to the starting point or to the city center - to the town hall square.
