Worth seeing: Rorregg Castle (privately owned by the Habsburg - Lorraine family), Wimburg ruins (from the 14th century, widow's seat of Agnes of Hungary), St. Urban's Church in Pisching, St. Magdalena's Church in Altenmarkt with pictures from the school of Kremser Schmidt and Paul Troger, St. Laurentius' Church in Ysper with "carving". All hiking trails from Altenmarkt and Ysper are signposted from both starting points!
We begin this leisurely walk in the town of Altenmarkt and first turn left at the Puschacher department store. At the edge of town, we come to a footbridge on the right and walk along a small stream to the Russenkreuz. We continue along the gravel road, known as the “Alte Straße”/Prinzenbergweg (formerly the road to Persenbeug). After about 1 km, we reach a house in the forest; shortly after that, we turn right. At the edge of the forest, there are a few benches that invite you to take a short break. The trail leads down across the meadow to the “Waira” farm and continues to the state highway, which we follow to the left for about 70 m before turning right onto the sandy path.
We cross the next road and walk downhill along the farm road toward the Ysperbach. We follow the path and the river back to Altenmarkt.
