Cycling tour Starting from Groß-Siegharts
On the trail of taste: on the "Bertha Beerenbahn" route, you can snack on fruity wild fruit. Strengthened, you pedal lighter and ride ahead like a steam locomotive. Discover traces of the old railroad along the route, the history of the Bandlkramer and why Austria is called "Rakousko" in the Czech Republic - "the land behind Raabs". You will find the berry calendar at our rest stops. "Bertha Beerenbahn" runs along the former railroad line Groß-Siegharts - Raabs/Thaya and is a section of the Thayarunde. The route is car-free.
When choosing your route, make sure it’s appropriate for your fitness level. Check to see if the restaurants you plan to visit along the way are open. Pack your fully charged cell phone and maps in your backpack.
Sturdy shoes, functional clothing, sun and rain protection, maps, trekking poles if needed, first-aid kit (blister bandages), and plenty of food (snacks, granola bars, fruit, water).
