Cycling tour Starting from Bad Schönau in front of the church
This challenging circular road bike tour through the Vienna Alps offers a change from the otherwise rather flat road bike routes. The start and finish point is at the church in Bad Schönau.
The Bucklige Welt lies exactly between Vienna and Graz. It is also known as the "land of 1000 hills". Road cyclists describe the region as one of the best, least congested, most enjoyable and most varied road cycling areas in the German-speaking world. The 1000 hills of the Bucklige Welt offer 1000 possibilities for a successful road bike vacation, because here you don't just ride on flat terrain. The hilly ride rewards you with fantastic views.
The start in Bad Schönau in der Bucklige Welt is quiet and gentle. The route continues towards St. Corona. At the Wechsel, the ride becomes steep and challenging. It goes up to the Semmering. There is more going on here and you will find more action than peace and quiet. Via Gloggnitz and Neunkirchen, the route heads back into the Bucklige Welt to return to the starting point at the church in Bad Schönau.
Sights along the route: the museum village in Krumbach, the Semmering railway world heritage site
