Description
The circular hike takes us from Puchberg via Rohrbach im Graben around the Buchberg and the Kienberg, where we pass various beautiful points. First we hike along the Schneebergbahn through the Hengsttal valley and over the Sattelberg into the Rohrbachtal valley. Here you will find the Marias Land Resort with its restaurant, which invites you to rest and refresh yourself. There is a farm shop with specialties ranging from salmon to Angus beef. Numerous hikes up the Gahns are also possible from here. You can return to Puchberg via the Teichwiese, the Gratzenhöhe and through the Schwarzengründe. On the circular route, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery between Schneeberg and Gahns and stop off at numerous refreshment stops.

- Equipment Always take suitable maps with you. Wear sturdy shoes suitable for the route (hiking boots or trekking shoes), take sun and rain protection as well as water and a small snack. Take your mobile phone with you and save the mountain rescue emergency number: 140
- Route description From the train station, we walk onto Bahnstraße and turn right onto Schneebergstraße. Before the cog railway crossing, we turn left following the hiking trail into Hengsttal. Up to Hengsthütte, we follow the blue marking, then the red one. After the alpine pasture, we turn left and walk along the blue marking over a forest road and then through the gorge to Rohrbach im Graben. Along the street, we walk through the village to house number 5 – here we turn left towards Gratzenhöhe (blue marking). We walk through the district Schwarzengründe, upon reaching the main road about 50 m to the right and then immediately left again (blue) along Ziehrerweg, which then leads back to Puchberg with a red marking.

- Getting there From Vienna or Graz via the South Motorway A2 to exit Wr. Neustadt West and B26 to Puchberg am Schneeberg.
- Public transport Take the train from Vienna or Graz to Wiener Neustadt. From there, take the regional train towards Puchberg am Schneeberg to the final stop.Direct excursion train on weekends: departure at 8:41 from Vienna main station, return at 16:16 from Puchberg station.Buses also run from Neunkirchen, Ternitz (line 350) and Pernitz (line 330) to Puchberg.Further information at www.oebb.at or www.vor.at
