Description
A hiker's paradise just outside Wiener Neustadt and only 40 minutes from Vienna: the Rosalia circular hiking trail owes its name to the Rosalia Mountains, which border Burgenland. The long-distance hiking trail stretches for over 80 kilometers through the thermal spa communities of Katzelsdorf, Lanzenkirchen, Walpersbach, Bad Erlach and Pitten before connecting to Wiener Neustadt. The daily stages can be planned flexibly thanks to several overnight accommodation options, excellent public transport connections and signposting in both directions. Divided into 4 stages, the daily distances are between 16 and 27 kilometers long. If you want to cover more kilometers each day, you can shorten the stages to 2 or 3 days or explore the excursion options in the villages.
The circular route leads through hilly, non-alpine terrain with a high proportion of forest and through a nature reserve. The constant ups and downs along the hiking trail make the long-distance hike quite challenging, but also easy to manage without alpine equipment and suitable for beginners. In the valley along the Leitha, however, the trail is rather flat. The gentle, green landscape in combination with time spent in nature soon leads to deep relaxation and harmony with oneself. Even more meditative and spiritual time can be spent at the energetically special power points.
Excursion destinations, refreshment stops and power points are not neglected. The Wiesen-Lanzenkirchen viewing tower is just a few minutes' walk from the trail and rewards you with a mountain panorama across valleys as far as Schneeberg, Rax, Hohe Wand and Semmering. Lake Neusieder See also glistens on the horizon on clear days. The view at Bener in Klingfurth near Walpersbach is completely different: this place is not only one of the energetic power points, but also reveals the reason why the Bucklige Welt is also known as the land of 1000 hills. Here, one hill follows the next and only a few small settlements blend into the landscape. All around, the view sweeps over fields, meadows and forests in various shades of green, creating a very special light atmosphere.
