The summer resort of Rosenburg, known far beyond the borders of the country, with its dozens of Wilhelminian-style villas, lies in the valley of the Kamp, overlooked by the castle of the same name. The original castle from the 12th century was part of the Babenberg chain of fortifications; in the Renaissance it was given its final appearance, which has been preserved to this day, with the largest tournament court in Central Europe. You can see crossbows, knights' armor, shooting rifles, cannons, ... and in summer, theater. The falconers' bird of prey demonstrations are particularly spectacular. A high ropes course has been set up in the adjacent forest for the younger generation. The baroque pilgrimage church Maria Dreieichen with its famous dome painting by Paul Troger is one of the most beautiful in Austria. The basilica is a destination for thousands of pilgrims every year.
You hike from Rosenburg a short way on the Kamptal federal road towards Gars am Kamp, where on your right the Gasthof Mann invites you to rest. Before the railway crossing, you have to cross the Kamp on a footbridge to the right. Now you go steeply uphill, keeping right, past the Grasele Cave to Rosenburg Castle, where you can also take a break with refreshments or visit the enchanting castle that towers high above the Kamp. Now you cross the parking lot, go through the climbing park, and keep left downhill to the power plant. Over a footbridge you reach the Rauscher Mill, from where you then continue upstream along the Kamp together with route no. 620. After about 1 km, you must leave the path to the right again and hike uphill to the road from Rosenburg to Altenburg. You cross it and go downhill to the Stranzlbach. From here you have to go uphill again towards Käferbigl. Now you cross the connecting road from Mühlfeld and Burgerwiesen and walk over fields again towards Horn. On the way you must go under the bypass and then right back to Horn. You go along the castle wall and later along the municipal sewage treatment plant into the Taffa valley. Here you do not cross the bridge but follow the Taffa downstream on the left. You stay by the riverbank and after 500 m pass a rock wall on the left. Here you cross the mill stream and shortly after the Taffa. Along the right riverbank, the path now leads you through the romantic Taffa valley, past the former mills to the Kamptal federal road. After the 2nd mill, you would have the opportunity to turn right into Einsatzgraben and make a detour uphill in 5 minutes to the Horn Alpine Club's wetland biotope. After 2 km you reach the Kamptal federal road. Before this, you turn right and march steeply uphill briefly along a ridge. Here you pass the chapel and go down the stairs back to Rosenburg train station.
