Route length : 17.0 km - difference in altitude : 455 m, Marbach (220 m) > Maria Taferl (443 m) - route quality : asphalted main and side roads - characteristics : two climbs, the longest 3.5 km to Maria Taferl - course : After a steep start in Marbach, slightly uphill to the first hairpin bend - then moderately steep after a short section of forest towards the pilgrimage site - access to the terrace in front of the basilica (km 3.5, wonderful views of the Danube valley - now downhill, turn left after the village of Oberthalheim - forest - after the village of Unterthalheim uphill - access to Artstetten Castle possible via Franz-Ferdinand-Straße or continue to the junction with the main road - Artstetten Castle (km 10.0, idyllic castle park, exhibition "Für Herz & Krone") - Now downhill back to the Danube to Pöchlarn (km 12.5) - on the Danube cycle path back to Marbach.
