Hiking tour Starting from Kneipp facility in Gabrielental, Weitra
The circular trail starts directly at the Lainsitz in the beautiful Gabrielental valley - at the foot of the old town of Weitra - and leads through a typical, slightly hilly Waldviertel landscape as well as through fields, meadows and forests.

At the beginning of the last century, landscape gardeners demonstrated a sense of where nature can remain its own master. The upper reaches of the Lainsitz, which runs through the Gabrielental, are still largely untouched. The natural course of the river, landscape with meadows, floodplains and mixed woodland - all this is what makes the Lainsitz river ecosystem so healthy. One sign of this is the natural diversity of wildlife. You should take half a day to enjoy all the diversity and beauty of nature on this circular hiking trail.
Since there are no places to stop for a bite to eat along the route, we recommend bringing your own food.
Sportswear, athletic shoes, and hiking boots
The starting point of Circular Hiking Trail No. 31 is the Kneipp facility in Gabrielental. We hike along the left bank of the Lainsitz to the stone signpost (Weißenhof) and then continue along the long-distance hiking trail to the Weitra-Wultschau state highway. Turning left, we walk a short distance along the state road until we reach the turnoff for the farm road toward Reinprechts on the right.
(In Reinprechts, if you turn left, you can follow connecting trail No. 32—via Wultschau to Moorbad Harbach.) In Reinprechts, we turn right and continue hiking to the fire station, where we cross the state road. We walk along the paved farm road to a fork in the path and follow the gravel path to the left, cross the state road, and continue on to the fish pond. Here, we turn right along the pond and—above Brühl—continue along the marked paved path to Tiefenbach. After a short stretch to the right, we continue down the dead-end road—which, after about 100 m, leads us left onto a narrow path along the Lainsitz River to the Lainsitz Bridge. Here we turn right and follow the state road to Bürgerspitalsgasse. From the parking lot, follow the sign for “Gabrielental” and continue to the starting point of the hike at the Kneipp facility.
