Beautiful but long circular tour with great refreshment stop at the Kitzhütte
From the village square in Hollenstein, first to the Hochschlag farmhouse and along the partly steep alpine path to the Kitzhütte hut (open from May to October). Past the hut, the trail follows the forest road down to the Eisgrabensattel. Here a forest road branches off to the right, leading out of the valley high above the Sandgraben. After approx. 2 km, a hunting trail begins, on which surefootedness is required in places, and which leads out onto the beautifully situated mountain meadow of the Hochau. Following the markings, past the former Hochscheuch farm, the path rejoins the Königsbergstraße at Sattelreith, which you follow for approx. 400m uphill back to the starting point.
