Sandsteg - Town Hall Square with St. John's Column - Historic Fleckner Gate - Erlaufhafen pier
Ornate town houses along the main street and the beautiful town hall square with the castle and the "Cathedral of the Erlauf Valley" bear witness to the prosperity of the Renaissance, Baroque and Biedermeier periods. Along the Old Town Tour, you will not only get to know historic Scheibbs, but also the lifestyle of today: Scheibbs is the district capital with a very lively cultural scene, health and school center. A popular meeting place - and yet pleasantly small, quiet and very personal. The best place to experience the special flair of the town is very close to the water: in the Erlaufhafen harbor, redesigned in 2015, with the town pier as a resting place, boat landing stage and sometimes also a cultural venue.
Details of the northern route via the sandy footbridge directly into the old town:
From the left bank of the Erlauf, you walk over the Sandsteg and then up to the oldest part of the town: the Rathausplatz with the church, castle and town hall. The path continues to the Flecknertor gate and along the former course of the town wall - where the moat used to be - to the Powder Tower. Via the particularly beautiful main street, you then return to the town pier with a grandstand right by the water
