Description
Circular hiking trail from Schwarzenbach an der Pielach - Stuppacheben - Stuppacheben Mühle - Hartberg - Obersee - Untersee - Obertal - Schwarzenbach an der Pielach
- Equipment Hiking clothing suitable for the seasons and weather conditions
- Route description A partly slightly challenging circular hiking route that leads you on the one hand to the Stuppbacheben Mill (a visit is worthwhile, stone milling by appointment with Mr. Martin Sperr – 02724 210) and on the other also to the highest farmhouse in Schwarzenbach at just over 800 meters altitude. The starting point is the town center of Schwarzenbach. The path follows the paved road towards Obertal. After passing the cemetery on the left, just before the bridge over the Schwarzenbacherl stream, you can take the peaceful path alongside the brook ("Wiener Wegerl"). After passing the Obertal settlement, the path leads left up to the "Krickl Chapel." There, take the forest road to the right. Before the property “Vorderleiten,” turn left into the forest and reach the “Oberhof.” Then continue uphill on the farm road, passing “Unterstein,” “Oberstein,” “Bretteries,” and “Stuppacheben.” Here we leave the paved path and hike leisurely towards “Hartberg” and “Upper Lake.” After the wooded area, turn right towards the "Stuppacheben Mill." After a short rest at the mill, continue over the small stream to Hartberg, and then we walk back through the Obertal to the starting point in the village.
- Parking Parking in the town center
- Getting there On the B39 towards Mariazell, after the Gasthof Schönau (Frankenfels), turn left towards "Schwarzenbach/Türnitz" and follow the road to Schwarzenbach.
- Public transport Take the Mariazellerbahn to the Schwarzenbach stop. With prior telephone arrangement (Mob.: 0664 103 30 15), there is a taxi service from the station to the town center during the summer months.
- Editor’s tip A visit to the "Stuppacheben Mill" is definitely worthwhile. There are also chilled drinks available at the mill in exchange for a donation. With prior arrangement with Mr. Martin Sperr, the mill can also be visited while in operation (stone milling).
