Description
Explore the summer resort by bike. Past the sophisticated villas of the fin de siècle, complemented by wonderful views of the Semmering Railway and the surrounding countryside, this cycle route leads through the village of Semmering. The history of this town is told in showcases along the elevated road. Well worth a look.
The route leads past striking points, such as the Hotel Panhans or the legendary Südbahnhotel, which today bear witness to the beginning of modern tourism.
- Route description Start and finish is at the valley station of the Hirschenkogel cable car. We follow Hochstraße to the north. Passing the Cervo D'oro restaurant, we reach the intersection at "Villa Daheim." The Südbahnhotel is also on the way. For most of the time, we follow Adlitzgrabenstraße in a northwest direction. Return to the starting point via Hochstraße.
- Parking A public parking lot is available at the Semmering pass height.
- Getting there From Vienna take the A2 to the Seebenstein junction, then the S6 towards Semmering - S6 to the Maria Schutz exit - Semmering.From the south take the A9 to the Deutschfeistritz-Friesach junction - S35 towards Bruck an der Mur - S6 towards Vienna to the Spital am Semmering exit - then via the federal road to Semmering.
- Public transport Take the train to Semmering station - about a 20-minute walk to the valley station. The train schedule can be found at: www.oebb.at
