Cycling tour Starting from Waidhofen an der Ybbs (Ybbstal Cycle Path)
In the heart of the Iron Road
In the heart of the Iron Road
The scenic tour from Waidhofen an der Ybbs via Ybbsitz to Gresten on the Little Erlauf Valley Cycle Path is suitable for leisure cyclists and e-bikers.
For around 800 years, blacksmiths have set the tone in Ybbsitz. The town is one of the centers of blacksmithing in Europe. The Little Ybbs Valley Cycle Path takes cyclists to this vibrant heart of the Iron Road. It branches off from the "Great Ybbs Valley Cycle Path" in Gstadt near Waidhofen an der Ybbs and winds its way along a six-kilometre route to Ybbsitz. Here you can experience the past, present and future of iron processing in the FeRRUM or on the Blacksmith's Mile.
The section to Ybbsitz is particularly suitable for families. If you wish, you can cycle on from Ybbsitz to Gresten and thus into the Kleine Erlauftal, although the hills in between require much more athletic ambition.
In Gstadt, south of Waidhofen, the Small Ybbstal Cycle Path branches eastwards towards Ybbsitz and leads to Gresten in the Small Erlauftal (junction with Small Erlauftal Cycle Path).
