From Herzogenburg Abbey via the abbey vineyard through the vineyards: a cultural delight.
A wonderful circular hiking trail that can be combined with a visit to Herzogenburg Abbey and wonderful viewing points with views of the foothills of the Alps and the Tullnerfeld.
Gym or hiking shoes
We start at the abbey parking lot Herzogenburg, where there are free parking options. Then follow Kremser Straße towards Jahnstraße, from the “mini roundabout” at the end of Jahnstraße the path is well signposted. Bierhallegasse - back to Kremser Straße - after a short distance turn left onto the slightly ascending Weingartengasse - past the baroque abbey cellar - village Wielandsthal - small chapel - a bit towards Kremser Straße, at the glass container collection point head north (Walpersdorf) - after a right and left curve you reach Mühlweg - past the wayside shrine - almost straight to Gerichtsberg - Schauerberg - after this turn left - alongside the vineyards - before the village Weidling cross the railway - following the railway road you reach Großer Kölbling - this is bypassed on the west side - crossing Rotterdorfer Straße - straight to Hoher Kölbling - first southwards, then eastwards towards Herzogenburg - past the closed viticulture school (signposted "Johannesbrunnen") - turning left into the cellar lane, crossing Rottersdorfer Straße - on Weldweg above the Krenntal to the Krems-St.Pölten railway line route - shortly left, then through a bridge arch to Jahnstraße.
