Description
This 118-kilometre route with an elevation gain of 1,710 meters leads through the UNESCO World Hertige site Wachau, one of the most beautiful river landscapes in Europe. Picturesque wine villages such as Weißenkirchen and Spitz await you along the Danube. From Mautern to Spitz, cycling on the main road is prohibited, which is why the route follows the official cycle path here. Shortly after Spitz, the challenging ascent begins via hairpin bends up the Jauerling (960m), the highest elevation in the Wachau, which rewards you with breathtaking panoramic views. Highlights such as Jauerling, Maria Langegg and the Dunkelsteinerwald forest make this route a unique mix of sporting challenge and scenery worth seeing.
