Description
The 94-kilometre route with an elevation gain of 910 meters leads through some of the most beautiful landscapes in Lower Austria and has been awarded the title of most beautiful cycling route by triathlon participants several times. Starting in St. Pölten, the route leads past Lake Ratzersdorf towards the Traisental region. The first climb awaits in Krustetten with a wonderful view of Göttweig Abbey. From here, the picturesque Wachau, a UNESCO World Hertige site, opens up with its impressive vineyards and historic towns such as Rossatzbach, Spitz and Weißenkirchen. In the final third, the Dunkelsteinerwald forest awaits the Gansbacher with its challenging, shady yet sweat-inducing climb. The route deviates from the original triathlon route at the start, as the closed-off S33 highway cannot be used - but it still offers an incomparable cycling experience full of sporting challenges and scenic highlights.
