Teichmannser Wand Weg

When choosing your route, make sure it’s appropriate for your fitness level. Check to see if the restaurants and cafes you plan to visit along the way are open. Pack your fully charged cell phone and maps in your backpack. For cross-border trips, please always carry a passport or ID card with you.

Sturdy shoes, functional clothing, sun and rain protection, maps, trekking poles if needed, first-aid kit (blister bandages), and plenty of food (snacks, granola bars, fruit, water).

From the town square, walk past the imposing rectory, the wooden wayside shrine, and the cemetery, and you’ll arrive in Voirans. Just past the village, you’ll come to a dirt road and walk through a beautiful, peaceful forest to Teichmanns. You’ll walk through the village, and after about 0.5 kilometers, follow the signs and turn left into the Adenholz forest. After 1 kilometer, you can take a path on the right leading to the Teichmannser Wand (894 m), the highest point in the municipality. Back on the main trail, after 1.2 kilometers you’ll reach the Hubertusmarterl in Ottenschlag. Passing the fire station and the municipal maintenance yard, you’ll reach the main road to Kottes. Follow this road, and after about 0.5 kilometers, turn right onto the North-South Long-Distance Hiking Trail toward Pleßberg. Here, you’ll pass a wind turbine, and at the entrance to Pleßberg, turn left toward Ernst and then return to Kottes via the small villages of Felles and Pötzles.

There is plenty of parking available right on the market square.

Take the A1 to Melk, cross the Danube Bridge, and continue downstream to Spitz/Danube. At the roundabout at the entrance to Spitz/Danube, take the second exit; after about 15 km, cross the Spitzer Graben toward Mühldorf to reach Kottes.

Take the S5 via Krems/Danube to Weißenkirchen/Wachau. At the end of Weißenkirchen, turn right onto the Seiberer (mountain road); after about 15 km, you’ll reach Kottes.

Coming from Zwettl, take the B36 to Ottenschlag; turn left at Ottenschlag Castle, keep left again at the Jager company, and after about 7 km, you’ll reach Kottes.
