Short hike from the old town of Scheibbs to the popular Jelinekwarte.

Dr. Heinrich Jelinek, the son of a lawyer and originally from a Moravian family, went down in the history of the town of Scheibbs as a renowned local historian. With the erection of the Dr. Heinrich Jelinek Warte in 1953 at the Burgerhof above the town, the town of Scheibbs gave him a visible sign of gratitude during his lifetime. The wooden observation tower with a total height of 12.3 meters was completely renovated in 2007.

We leave the town hall square via Burgerhofstraße, which runs alongside the castle wall, and after a short time pass through a well-preserved archway before turning right and then immediately left again. Passing idyllic houses, we cross the Schöllgrabenbach stream. We are now on the Jägersteig, a popular connecting path between the city center and the Bundesoberstufenrealgymnasium. Coming from the north side, we follow the path above the school grounds to reach the Burgerhofsiedlung and the street "Am Burgerhof". We walk through this quiet residential area for a short while before a well-signposted hiking trail branches off the road and leads via Grubtal to Jelinekwarte. Once at the top, we enjoy a wonderful view over Scheibbs from the Holzwarte. After a well-earned rest, we return via the slightly longer serpentine path.
