Description
This tour leads through the Traisental wine country and invites you to stop off at the wine taverns and sample the fine wines of the region. Walpersdorf Castle, the prehistoric museum in Nußdorf and the baroque Herzogenburg Abbey provide cultural highlights along the route.

- Route description Route: Starting point Town Hall St. Pölten – Stadtwald Viaduct – along St. Pölten running route no. 7 – Weitern – Ragelsdorf – Großhain – Greiling – Fugging – Weidling – Wielandsthal (continuing on the vineyard cycle path to Wagram) – Walpersdorf Castle – Inzersdorf – Getzersdorf – Reichersdorf – Nußdorf – Wagram (alternative via Hollenburg – Danube cycle path no. 6) – Traismauer – Venusberg – Oberndorf – Traisental cycle path – Herzogenburg/Naturfreundeplatzl – Pottenbrunn (Wasserburg) – Ratzersdorfer Lake – Town Hall St. Pölten.Alternative: From Walpersdorf Castle – Inzersdorf – Theyern – Maria Elend (guesthouse “Zur schönen Aussicht”) – Höbenbach – Krustetten (“Göttweigblick”) – Nußdorf.

- Editor’s tip On the way, there is the Renaissance Walpersdorf Castle, the pilgrimage church Maria Elend, the prehistoric museum Nußdorf, and the Wetterkreuzkirche Hollenburg. In Traismauer, there are the castle museum, wine shop, and bathing lakes. In Herzogenburg, you will find the Augustinian Canons Monastery, the baroque monastery garden, the Reither House cultural center, and a sports center. In St. Pölten, there is the 3-lakes experience with sports opportunities and a lookout tower. Along the route, numerous Heurigen wine taverns (information on opening times at the St. Pölten and Herzogenburg tourist offices).
