Description

Mödling is considered the botanical and zoological heart of Europe. The rich diversity of species is the result of different climatic, morphological and geological influences. The Mödling municipal forest therefore attracts scientists and recreationists from near and far who want to experience the biodiversity, treasures and rarities. The sustainable forest development concept not only meets the requirements of counteracting climate change and at the same time allows energy wood to be produced for the Mödling biomass heating plant, but also takes into account habitat protection and the demands of modern wildlife management. There is plenty of scope for creative recreational use. Biking and hiking trails are strictly separated and not only lead past exciting natural elements and historic staffage buildings, but also offer fascinating views of the Vienna Basin and beyond the national border. With the forest classroom and its own forest education concept, the focus is primarily on young forest visitors. They should get to know, respect and learn about the forest in a playful way.
