Pfaffstätten is located in the Thermenregion Vienna Woods - one of Austria's oldest and most famous wine-growing regions - and on the south-eastern foothills of the Vienna Woods Biosphere Reserve. From the Klesheimwarte right next to the Rudolf Proksch hut, there is a magnificent panoramic view over the Vienna Basin to the Leitha Mountains and the Schneeberg, which is over 2,000 meters high. Hiking Pfaffstätten is also a popular local recreation area. With its many hiking trails and the Thermenradweg cycle path, those seeking relaxation can unwind here. At the end of the day, the many wine taverns offer a cozy get-together.

From the parking lot, head toward the vineyards and follow the signs to the Rudolf-Proksch hut. Once you reach the hut, turn left down the forest path toward the small Kiental valley, then keep right and follow the signs to the Einödhöhlen (Bat Adventure Trail). Then keep left toward the Beethoven Long-Distance Hiking Trail until you reach the vineyards, and turn right down the dirt road back to the starting point.
At the summit of the Pfaffstättner Kogel lies the Rudolf-Proksch hut, which offers a wonderful atmosphere. The numerous wine taverns right in town—just a few minutes’ walk away—make for the perfect way to end this hike.
