Rohr im Gebirge - Kalte Kuchl/Kleinzell - Tiefental - Hochreit - St. Aegyd am Neuwalde
An easy hiking trail leads from Rohr im Gebirge to the Kalten Kuchl in Kleinzell with the Alpengasthof Rieder (01:45 h). Attention: in good weather there are many motorcyclists on the road! From here, a hike begins in a scenically beautiful but very secluded area with no refreshment stops. From the Kalten Kuchl you reach the lonely grounds of the Grüne and Dürren Schwarza (01:30 h) with little difference in altitude via Werasöd. From Tiefental, the route leads through the Finstergrundgraben to the first slightly hilly uphill section of this stage, passing a saddle with a view of the high-altitude neo-baroque Hochreit Castle, built by Wittgenstein in 1888, into Traisental (01:30 h). Via the Hochreit farmstead in Amt Mitterbach you reach the Seebachtal valley. From the Mosbach farmstead, take the local road to St. Aeygd, pass the train station and soon reach the center of St. Aeygd (02:30 h).
Walking times: The stated walking times are calculated based on the table of the German Alpine Club. These are pure walking times, rounded to the nearest quarter hour.
Appropriate hiking equipment is required. Additionally, note that this is a multi-day hike.
