Hiking tour Starting from Entrance to St. Aegyd at the Zögernitz Farmstead
Sure-footedness is absolutely essential!
Sturdy footwear
St. Aegyd – Zögernitzer – Gippel – Hofalm – Waldhüttsattel – Kernhof Start in St. Aegyd – at the Zögernitz farmstead (768 m above sea level)– The trail starts as a nice, wide forest path, ascending gently. You’ll cross the forest road three times. After that, the trail gets a bit steeper—but it’s still a beautiful path. About a quarter of an hour before the Gippelhütte, you’ll pass the Gippeltörl (view toward Kernhof). The trail is moderately difficult but offers beautiful views. After about ½ hour, you’ll cross a scree slope—a very narrow path—so you’ll need to be sure-footed. After that, the trail leads through the mountain pines. After the Polwischalm, the trail heads toward the Gamsmauer (1,401 m)—where some light climbing is required. The path is narrow, winding up and down over rocks. After about 2¼ hours, you’ll reach the Hofalm ( 1,450 m). After a quick snack with the host at the Hofalm in the Kohlröserlhütte, the trail continues to the Göllerhütte. Now follow the forest road downhill to the Waldhüttsattel (1,266 m). From there, the descent continues to Kernhof.
