The wine experience tour starts and ends in the medieval town of Retz and leads clockwise through the surrounding communities. The town of Retz, which is also the center of the region, has a lot to offer with its unique cellar labyrinth or the landmark visible from afar, Austria's only still operational windmill. An entertaining program also awaits in the area surrounding Retz: 0b guided tours of the cellar lanes in the "Maulavern" in Zellerndorf or in the Öhlbergkellergasse in Pillersdorf. Many places offer interesting insights into the historical winegrowing culture of this region. The multi-award-winning Veltliner stronghold of Röschitz and the village of Schrattenthal - the smallest wine town in Austria - impress with their excellent wines and are a must-see for all visitors. The best place to enjoy a distant view is the Europawarte in Waitzendorf, which offers an excellent view over the entire Retzer Land and into the Waldviertel.
