When choosing your route, make sure it’s appropriate for your fitness level. Check to see if the restaurants and cafes you plan to visit along the way are open. Pack your fully charged cell phone and maps in your backpack. For cross-border trips, please always carry a passport or ID card with you.
Sturdy shoes, functional clothing, sun and rain protection, maps, trekking poles if needed, first-aid kit (blister bandages), and plenty of food (snacks, granola bars, fruit, water).
This well-marked loop trail connects the Zwettl and Kamp rivers and begins in Zwettl across from the Sonnenbad in the Kamp Valley ("Kamptal" in German). The well-marked trail offers a particularly idyllic walk along the Kamp River, past the bust of the emperor and fascinating rock formations in the water. After the Gschwendtmühle, the trail branches off toward Kuenringerstein and Syrafeld. The return trip, following the signs, takes you through the natural landscape of the Zwettl Valley.
