Dürnstein

Dürnstein with the wine villages Oberloiben and Unterloiben is considered one of the most romantic places along the Danube. Popular destinations are the abbey with its magnificent baroque church and the ruin, once castle of the Kuenringer. In it, the English King Richard I the Lionheart was imprisoned 1192/1193. From the ruin you have a beautiful view far over the Danube Valley. Beautiful hiking trails, Bummelzugfahrten through the vineyards with wine tasting. First-class gourmet restaurants, indigenous Inns and typical taverns proffer the guest delicacies from kitchen and cellar. Concerts from classical to folk.
