Grafenschlag

Situated in the Zwettl district - on the geological boundary between the granite and gneiss zones at 781 meters above sea level - the market town of Grafenschlag welcomes its guests. The municipality is divided into Grafenschlag and the cadastral communities of Bromberg, Kaltenbrunn, Kleingöttfritz, Kleinnondorf, Langschlag, Schafberg and Wielands as well as several individual farms.

Grafenschlag: a quiet village with a long history

The village was first mentioned in 1321. In the middle of a small park, a pillory from the 17th century is still a reminder of old times and jurisdictions. The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Martin is very impressive: the listed church combines elements of late Gothic and modern architecture.

Great leisure tips in Grafenschlag

A visit to the Hahn alpaca farm is a hit for families with children. The beautiful hiking tours with the cuddly animals are suitable for everyone - from babies in baby carriages to pensioners. The Grafenschlag landscape pond is a wonderful place to swim in the summer months. Incidentally, it can be beautifully hiked along the so-called Walpurgis hiking trail. Another special feature in Langschlag is the Klemuwa - the smallest museum in the Waldviertel and an exhibition space for regional artists.
