Hollabrunn

The town of Hollabrunn - west of the Ernstbrunn Forest - is the headquarters of the Weinviertel district of the same name. Hollabrunn was first mentioned in a document in 1135, but there is evidence that the area has been settled since the Neolithic Age. Today, the modern town is primarily known as a school town - with numerous first-class educational institutions. There are also great leisure activities for family excursions and vacations in the countryside.

Hollabrunn: sports action & cellar cats

In summer and winter: With its outdoor adventure pool and artificial ice rink, Hollabrunn offers spacious areas for sport and fun. The Koliskowarte offers far-reaching views as far as Schneeberg and Ötscher, which can be reached quickly and easily via two hiking trails. "In the footsteps of the cellar cat", a themed trail with 24 stations leads through the Sitzendorf wine cellar lane - and provides all kinds of interesting facts in a family atmosphere.

Important sights in Hollabrunn

  • The Catholic parish church of Hollabrunn St. Ulrich from the 12th century was renovated and rebuilt several times. Another sacred building worth seeing is the Catholic branch church Gartenstadt Maria, Hilfe der Christen.
  • The Koliskowarte in the Hollabrunn church forest was erected in 1935. In 2016, it was given a twelve-metre-high superstructure and now offers an unobstructed panoramic view as far as Schneeberg and Ötscher at a height of 24 meters. A top-rope climbing facility was also installed.
  • The main square features a plague column with a statue of the Virgin Mary from the late 17th century, four statues of saints and the Floriani Fountain from 1862.
  • In neighboring Raschala is the "Pinkelstein" - a stone on which none other than Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is said to have done his business. The annual "Ringelreih'n am Pinkelstein" event takes place here.
