Hollenthon

The municipality of Hollenthon is located in the district of Wiener Neustadt-Land. The densely wooded landscape in the Bucklige Welt is characterized by numerous hills and excursion mountains. The highest elevation is the summit of the Stickelberg at 881 meters above sea level. Other mountains include the Hollenthoner Berg (745 meters), the Galgenriegel (740 meters), the Saurüssel (715 meters) and the Ameisberg (710 meters).

For families with children and recreation-seeking hikers or cyclists, Hollenthon is the perfect place for nature-oriented vacations and time-outs. You can eat - and sleep - well in several inns and taverns in the village.

Hollenthon is also a well-known weather platform in the heart of the Bucklige Welt. The regional weather station with webcams and a unique weather trail is all about meteorology, forecasts, weather systems and phenomena.

Sights & natural monuments in Hollenthon

Chapels, shrines and wayside shrines can be discovered throughout the municipality. In addition to the parish church Hollenthon Mariä Himmelfahrt from the 13th century and the local chapel Spratzeck - in which a valuable statue from 1479 was discovered at the end of the 1960s - the ruins of Stickelberg Castle dating back to 1259 are particularly popular Excursion destinations.

Hollenthon's natural monuments include the Türkenhöhle - a quartzite cave on private land - and the legendary Hanserlstein, which is also located on private property. According to legend, a very good but unfortunately far too fond of swearing farmer's boy was taken by the devil on this rock.
