Kottes - Purk

The market town of Kottes-Purk is nestled in the tree-covered hills of the Waldviertel in the Zwettl district in the valley of the Kleine Krems. Several listed buildings - such as churches, chapels and statues - characterize the tranquil landscape. The municipality's landmark is a granite "Metzen" dating back to 1540, which was once used to measure grain and salt. Beautiful hiking routes and cycle paths invite you to enjoy the tranquillity of the Waldviertel: on a day trip or a relaxing short break.

Popular hiking trails in Kottes-Purk

A well-known hiking route - in its entirety or as a selected stage - is the Kremstalweg: its entire route measures over 90 kilometers. It is also possible to start in Kottes. Since 1995, there has also been an interesting ore and nature trail in the municipality. The themed hiking trail with a focus on "Geology and human use of the natural resources of this region" conveys the importance and possible use of the geological underground.
