Kreuttal

Kreuttal is located in north-eastern Lower Austria, in the middle of the Weinviertel region between Wolkersdorf and Mistelbach. The villages of Hautzendorf, Hornsburg Ritzendorf and Unterolberndorf, which together form the municipality of Kreuttal, are located around the magnificent Kreutwald forest. This is a popular excursion destination and local recreation area for Vienna, not least because of the particularly clean air and diverse nature.

The municipal area has a total surface area of 21.48 km². More than 50% of this is wooded. The Kreut Valley is particularly attractive due to the large wooded areas, the hilly landscape and the diverse cultivation (vineyards, cereals, sunflowers, rape...). The Kreuttwald is a mixed forest, which is particularly popular for hiking and cycling tours. The forest nature trail in Unterolberndorf shows the diversity of flora in the Kreut Valley.

The 800-year-old pilgrimage church of St. Lambert on the "Holy Mountain" is located on a wooded hill north of Hautzendorf and is considered a particularly mystical place of power. The church tower houses a bell dating back to 1452. Pilgrimages take place annually on Ascension Day and Lamberti (or the Sunday after Lamberti). Weddings, christenings, etc. are also celebrated in the pilgrimage church of St. Lambert on the "Holy Mountain". The pilgrimage church can only be visited by prior arrangement. Registration at the Keuttal municipal office on 02245/89260.

The Kreuttal lies at an altitude of 207 meters above sea level. There are several elevations in the hilly landscape typical of the Weinviertel: The Kreutberg (332 m), the Hundsberg (331 m) and the Glockenberg (365 m), on which there is a 25 m high viewing tower.
