Laa/Thaya

Welcome to Laa an der Thaya - The spa town in the Weinviertel region

The spa town of Laa an der Thaya is located in Lower Austria, in the northern Weinviertel, directly on the Austrian-Czech border. A town that is becoming increasingly important for those seeking relaxation thanks to its wide range of tourist attractions.

Culture and sights

Whether historical guided tours of the town, night watchman walks, the Carriage Museum, the South Moravian Museum, live outdoor concerts, gospel concerts in the church, impressive exhibitions, cabarets and cabaret - culture is always in season in Laa an der Thaya. The Laa Jungle with its well-preserved natural landscape along the Thaya-Mühlbach stream, with protected animal and plant species, is ideal for a leisurely stroll.

Laa Castle

Laa Castle is the emotional landmark of the spa town of Laa an der Thaya. Work is currently underway on the basic restoration of this valuable building. This involves conserving the existing structure and creating the conditions for its use as a tourist attraction. The round butter churn tower on the south-west side will be made accessible and equipped with a viewing platform. In addition, access routes will be created around the castle and sanitary facilities will be built. The inner area will then also be available for open-air events.

Onion festival

The Onion Festival takes place every year in August on the town square. Thousands of visitors now come to this special festival, which is characterized by a perfect blend of regional character and entertainment at the highest level. It is not only in summer that the town square in Laa comes alive with events. At the turn of the year, the old year is traditionally bid farewell and a toast is raised to the new year. www.zwiebelfest.at
