Neidling
The market town of Neidling in the district of Sankt Pölten-Land lies on the eastern edge of the Dunkelsteinerwald forest. The village was first mentioned in a document in 828. Today's municipal area includes the villages of Afing, Dietersberg, Enikelberg, Flinsbach, Gabersdorf, Goldegg, Griechenberg and Neidling itself - as well as Pultendorf, Watzelsdorf and Wernersdorf. For pleasure-seekers and families with children, the tranquil, gently undulating area is ideal for hiking excursions and fresh air vacations. The provincial capital of St. Pölten is just a stone's throw away by car.
Neidling: hikes through the Dunkelsteinerwald forest
Several pretty chapels nestle in the green landscape - and numerous walking paths and hiking routes wind their way through the whole of Neidling. How about the seven-kilometre route from Neidling to Dunkelstein? A visit to Neidling is also included on the DUR 9 stage from Hafnerbach to Karlstetten. Overnight stays are particularly comfortable at the excellent Hotel Hössinger.
Sights in Neidling
In addition to a romantic wine cellar lane in Flinsbach, you can visit the parish church of St. Peter and St. Paul and the vicarage in Neidling. Goldegg Castle, which was built around 1300 on a southern foothill of the Dunkelsteinerwald, is very impressive. Today, the spacious complex with its magnificent garden is home to a popular restaurant. The St. Pölten Golf Club is located in front of the castle.
