Niederhollabrunn

Niederhollabrunn in the district of Korneuburg comprises the villages of Bruderndorf, Haselbach, Niederfellabrunn, Niederhollabrunn and Streitdorf - idyllically situated in the hilly Weinviertel. From here, you can take beautiful strolls, walks and hikes through the relaxing countryside.

In Haselbach, the Michelberg rises up on the Way of St. James - with magnificent views, excavations of a former pilgrimage church and chapel. Pilgrims, mountain bikers and long-distance hikers alike love the natural route over the devout mountain.

Incidentally, many famous personalities (such as poet Theodor Kramer or painter Carl Pischinger) come from the area - or were at least very popular guests, such as Emperor Franz I or actor and director Willi Forst.

Niederhollabrunn: a place with a long history

There is evidence that the first settlement dates back to the Palaeolithic Age. To the north-west of the village is a so-called Leeberg: a burial mound from the Hallstatt period.

Niederhollabrunn is not only one of the oldest settlements, but also one of the oldest parishes to the left of the Danube: the first documentary mention of the Niederhollabrunn parish dates back to 1135. The parish church was dedicated to the deacon martyr St. Laurentius. The Michelberg is home to the oldest place of worship in this region. After the way up became too difficult for many, St. Laurentikirche im Thale gradually became more and more important.
