Pulkau

A small river originating in the Waldviertel gives its name to one of the most beautiful little towns in the Weinviertel: Pulkau.

The historical buildings such as the town hall, numerous reading houses and the wonderful churches bear witness to Pulkau's great importance in earlier centuries. Today, we combine tradition and culture with rural hospitality and serenity.

The village and its cadastral communities of Groß-Reipersdorf, Leodagger, Passendorf, Rafing and Rohrendorf an der Pulkau invite you to linger in unspoiled nature, recharge your batteries, indulge in wine and other delicacies or devote yourself to art and culture. It is not for nothing that Pulkau is also known as the "wine and culture town".

The Romanesque parish church of St. Michael from the 12th century sits enthroned at the highest point of the town. After extensive renovation, it now shines in new splendor. Right next to it is the 13th century charnel house. In the Church of the Holy Blood of Christ, located in the city center, you can admire the famous late Gothic winged altar - a major work of the Danube School. Several hiking trails lead past the Maria Bründl chapel, which is located in a romantic spring basin. To this day, this is a magical place for pilgrims.

Wine lovers appreciate the region's wide range of varieties and the opportunity to taste wines directly from the winegrowers. Guests can expect comfortable rooms and apartments - regardless of whether they prefer a vacation with a private room landlord, in a bed and breakfast or in a youth hostel.

Active vacationers and locals will be delighted by the well-signposted network of hiking and cycling trails in and around Pulkau. The routes lead past romantic mills and watercourses, historic buildings, the rugged cliffs of the Teufelswand, crossroads and shrines and are surrounded by a beautiful landscape of fields, vineyards and orchards.
The family-friendly Sonnenwaldbad swimming pool with its large sunbathing lawn and the nearby tennis court add to the sports and leisure activities on offer.

Daily errands can be done on the doorstep, so to speak, at the grocery store, bakery, tobacconist's or, for example, the electrical retailer. Medical care is provided by a dental practice, two general practitioners and a vet, and parents know that their children are well looked after in the educational facilities - childcare, kindergarten, elementary school and secondary school.

Pulkau, a liveable and lovable town with a rural character!
