Rohr im Gebirge
Rohr im Gebirge in Wiener Neustadt-Land invites you to enjoy a relaxing vacation in the countryside. In clear mountain air - at a healthy altitude of 683 meters - lies the densely wooded municipality in the idyllic basin of the Schwarzatal. The actual main town is the village of Rohr im Gebirge on the Zellenbach stream. The municipality is picturesquely framed by the mountains of the Alpine foothills: Schneeberg, Rax, Unterberg and Jochart.
Family tip: themed trails in Rohr im Gebirge
Two particularly beautiful themed trails are ideal for leisure hikers and families: the "Workshop, forest and water" trail runs through the forest and along streams. The stations along the Tümpfelweg trail tell of legends and myths from the region.
Traditional crafts and an old parish church
Rohr im Gebirge has been an Austrian center for the ancient craft of charcoal burning since the 13th century. Charcoal is still traditionally produced today in four charcoal burners. Exciting guided tours are available by appointment.
The listed buildings in the village are also well worth a visit: the Catholic parish church of St. Ulrich and the vicarage opposite.
