Seebenstein
Seebenstein in der Bucklige Welt lies in the heart of the Pittental valley - surrounded by heavily forested smaller mountains and hills. Thanks to its sheltered location, the municipality is often referred to as the "Pearl of the Pittental". Excursion destinations and idyllic hiking routes await guests of all ages.
Seebenstein Park offers many opportunities for easy walks and extended hikes. Along the Hampelweg trail, there is a family-friendly forest nature trail with information boards, benches and a shelter hut. The Hubertus Chapel is also worth a visit from there.
In summer, the spacious Parkbad Seebenstein is a popular meeting place for water rats and bathing beauties.
The most beautiful sights in Seebenstein
- Seebenstein Castle: The stately hilltop castle dates back to 1045. Today it is privately owned. In 2012, the historic premises served as the backdrop for a film adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast". The Seebenstein castle ruins are open to visitors - preferably as part of an interesting guided tour.
- Seebenstein parish church: The Catholic parish church of St. Andrew features medieval walls as well as late Gothic and neo-Gothic elements.
- Türkensturz ruins: According to legend, several groups of the Turkish siege were driven into the abyss from the steep Türkensturz limestone cliff in 1532. Today, the panoramic nature park of the Türkensturz ruins is an inviting place to climb, play, take photos and barbecue.
