The municipality of Sankt Margarethen an der Sierning in the district of St. Pölten-Land comprises 13 villages. In ancient times, the area belonged to the Roman province of Noricum and the parish was established around 1200. An active club life, numerous musicians and other artists as well as a youth center with a fun court: there is always something going on in St. Margarethen. A joint winter hike takes place every year and there are regular events for the whole family on the program. Cyclists and walkers in particular feel at home in this healthy community thanks to the numerous quiet side roads and peaceful country lanes. There is an extensive network of routes for hikers - from the footpath and several circular hiking trails to the famous Manker Pilgrimage Trail or the trekking tour of the Roman Trail 651.
Historical sights in St. Margarethen/Sierning
The late Gothic parish church of St. Margaretha is visible from afar. The adjoining vicarage dates back to 1850. At the foot of the church hill is a particularly beautiful Marian column from the 19th century. The four evangelists were also immortalized as impressive statues - and have been placed to the east of the church since the mid-18th century.
