Vitis

Vitis in the district of Waidhofen an der Thaya is located in the northern Waldviertel. The German Thaya river flows through the market town, which consists of 16 villages. Vitis was first mentioned in documents in 1150. In the 18th and 19th centuries, it was one of the most important markets in the Waldviertel. Today, it is considered an ideal feel-good place for nature-oriented vacations, day trips and outdoor leisure activities. The gastronomy on offer ranges from award-winning restaurants and home-style cooking to rustic village inns.
