Alternating panoramic trail

Classic and skating trails, several access points: For cross-country skiers, there is no way around the 60-kilometre-long Wechsel panoramic trail

The entire Wechsel panoramic trail in the Viennese Alps leads over 1,000 metres above sea level past the most beautiful vantage points of the Wechsel. This not only guarantees wonderful panoramic views, but also a high level of snow reliability.

Cross-country ski trail shuttle on Saturdays

Travel by train and bus to Kirchberg am Wechsel and take the shuttle from the Tauchner sports shop directly to the cross-country ski trail on the Steyersberger Schwaig. More information at www.loipeninfo.at

With a length of around 60 kilometres, the Wechsel panoramic trail is the first port of call for all cross-country skiers in the Viennese Alps. Groomed from the beginning of December to mid-March - provided there is enough snow for grooming - the trail runs through varied terrain and is also divided into smaller circular trail sections. It is permanently located at over 1,000 metres above sea level and offers magnificent panoramic views of the Schneeberg, Rax, Wechsel and the surrounding regions.

Access points and maps

There are several entry points along the Wechsel panoramic trail, where tickets are also available. Particularly recommended is the Steyersberger  Schwaig near Kirchberg am Wechsel with its own practice and training area. Other entry points: Mariensee, Feistritzsattel, Alpengasthof Kummerbauerstadl and Gasthaus Dissauer.

Refreshment stops

There are also some popular mountain huts along the trail, which invite you to stop for refreshments and a short break. In addition to the Steyersberger Schwaig, the Kummerbauer Stadl, for example, tempts you with good home cooking.
