The Wachau JUST ENJOY Tour takes you not only to scenic terraced vineyards but also to top chefs who are well-worth visiting in the spring.

In March and April, spring awakens the Wachau and the taste buds of visitors. That is when the wachau GOURMETfestival takes place. When the national and international cooking elite in and around Krems on the beautiful Danube boils up and the Wachau winegrowers get their best wines from the cellars, there can only be one reason: The wachau GOURMETfestival is back! And with it very special taste experiences, which regional top restaurants like the Hofmeisterei Hirtzberger in Wösendorf, the star-crowned Landhaus Bacher in Mautern, the Hotel Wachau in Melk and the Spitz-based winery Graben-Gritsch create in cooperation with international top chefs.

The origin of the secret ingredients

If you would like to know what makes the creations of master chefs in the Wachau so unique, we recommend that you visit the excellent producers in the region. Wachau saffron products from Berhard Kaar at the Dürnstein train station, for instance, are truly unique as is the tantalizing handmade chocolate from Konditorei Hagmann. It features arts and crafts from 270 regions – and of course, all kinds of souvenirs from the unique Wachau, such as Kalmuck, a traditional cotton fabric used in clothing for Danube sailors.
