Muckenkogel

Muckenkogel and its exciting theme trails are inviting destinations for visitors to discover and explore. You are sure to find your place in the sun here.

The exciting Muckenkogel theme trails offer an unforgettable experience for all visitors. There is so much to discover on tours ranging from history to the elements, e.g. the imposing Mostviertel Swing (Mostviertelschaukel) at the top station.

Sunroof with room for all
Muckenkogel is perched above Lilienfeld Abbey in Traisen Valley at 1,248 m. Idyllic panoramic trails wind past colorful orchids and mystical spots up to the summit. There is the right tour for everyone, whether family or group, individuals or ski tourers, plus an Enzo bench for resting.

Get away to a new dimension
The 10-meter-high Mostviertel Swing (Mostviertelschaukel) near the top station of the chairlift (at 1,000 m) affords unique views of the region. For prayerfulness, visit the monks at the Cistercian Abbey of Lilienfeld, famous for its choir.

The way is the goal
The perfect way to explore Muckenkogel and environs is on well-laid-out theme trails. Our tip: The theme trail about skiing pioneer Mathias Zdarsky and the Waterfall Trail (Wassserfallweg), which shows the force of nature first hand. The rustic Traisnerhütte or Otto-Kandler-Haus am Hohenstein are two mountain huts where tired alpinists can look forward to a cup of Cornelian cherry juice.
