Museum of local history Yspertal

Museum

Description

Since June 1982, you can visit the museum in the former school building in Altenmarkt near Yspertal. At that time, the extensive collection of Father Hans Wick formed the basis of the exhibits, and with the help of numerous helpers, the Yspertal Museum of Local History was created. Since then, the collection has continued to grow and currently comprises around 5000 objects, which can be seen in 18 exhibition rooms. Most of the exhibits have already been photographed and documented in an inventory.

An extensive collection of agricultural and forestry equipment, as well as a large number of objects related to everyday history, creates a vivid picture of the life of the rural population in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Traditional crafts such as stonemasonry, bakery, grocer's shop, turnery, etc. also have a place in the Yspertal Museum of Local History.

The museum can only be visited as part of a guided tour. Please book in advance with a museum guide or at the municipal office in Yspertal. Further information on the local history museum can be found here.
