Grammel biscuits

This year's typical dessert also fits perfectly into advent.

Grammel biscuits are a recipe from grandma's farmer's kitchen. The typical Heurigen speciality fits perfectly into the Advent season and brings back childhood memories. We prove that it always tastes best at Granny´s.

Ingredients:

  • 250 g crackling
  • 270 g flour
  •  260 g sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp. rum
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • Jam

Preparation:

The crackling is chopped into small pieces with a knife. Spread the flour on the work surface and form a small well in the middle. The remaining ingredients are put into this well and kneaded. Let the dough rest for half an hour. Then roll out the dough on the work surface and cut out the biscuits. The biscuits are baked for 15 minutes at 200 °C until golden brown. Spread the cooled biscuit halves with jam and glue together. Lightly sugared, the Grammelbäckerei are ready to be served.
